After being out of action for an eternity, Brough Superior unveiled the production version of the SS100 motorcycle at the 2014 EICMA Show in Milan, Italy. Though the concept was initially showcased at last year’s EICMA Show, Brough Superior has made quite a few changes to the model to make it production worthy. The British manufacturer unveiled the SS100 is two editions – Titanium and Black, and seems intent on launching the motorcycle in the second half of next year.
With this new motorcycle, Brough Superior has revived the moniker of the original SS100, which was marketed by the company in the 1920s as the ‘Rolls-Royce of motorcycles’. The modern iteration of the SS100 mimics the essence and styling of the 1924 model, with new futuristic technology and modern touches. The exposed frame is made by welding titanium plates together. Suspension duties are taken care of by Ohlins shocks, while the braking hardware includes Beringer 4D CMM Aerotec ceramic double discs for the front and rear-spoked wheels.
The SS100 will be powered by an 88 degree V-twin engine, which will be made in-house by the company. Engine components have been fabricated out of aluminium to extract a respectable performance while keeping the weight at bay. The fuel-injection system has been made by collaborating with a ‘renowned’ OEM supplier and meets Euro 3 emission norms.
Brough Superior revealed that the company has already commenced testing of the motorcycle, and deliveries are expected to commence in the second half of 2015. The SS100 will be available in three variants – SS100 Traditional, SS100 Titanium and SS100 Black. With prices expected to start at EUR 49,900 (Rs 38.24 lakh) in Europe, we expect the Brough Superior SS100 to rank high on the exclusivity.
