- Looks ready for production
- Will rival the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650
- Unveiled overseas
The upcoming 650cc retro bike, BSA Gold Star 650 has been spotted testing in India once again. The British middleweight has made appearances previously too and here’s what we know about it.
The Gold Star is already on sale in the UK and is priced at GBP 6,800 (approximately Rs 6.29 lakh excluding taxes). The bike is powered by a 652cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that churns out 45bhp and 55Nm. It’s mated to a five-speed gearbox.
The test mule spotted in India looks identical to the one sold overseas. It gets the same retro styling with ample chrome on the round headlight, fuel tank, fenders and other bits. Even the offset fuel tank lid and the single-piece seat are the same. Furthermore, the telescopic front forks, dual rear springs, spoked wheels and braking hardware too are the same as UK-model.
By the looks of it, the test bike spotted in India looks ready for production and we expect BSA to make an official announcement very soon. And once launched, it’ll rival the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the Kawasaki Z650RS. For reference, the Interceptor 650 is priced at Rs 2.88 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). In the UK, BSA offers the Gold Star in five different colours.
