- BSA applies for trademarks
- Planning to revive Lightning, Thunderbolt
- BSA currently sells Goldstar
BSA is looking to expand its motorcycle portfolio. The company has applied to trademark three motorcycle names - Lightning, Thunderbolt, and Bantam.
These trademark applications have been filed in the US, Australia and New Zealand. Of the three names, the brand used to have two bikes sold under Thunderbolt and Lightning names. These 650cc parallel-twin cylinder motorcycles were sold for many years in the UK.
With these trademarks, it is clear that the British brand has a twin-cylinder motorcycle line-up for the UK and other international markets. Currently, it only has one motorcycle in its line-up – the Goldstar. This bike was also spotted on tests on Indian roads. However, there is no confirmed information about its launch here. But BSA as a brand will be more focused towards international markets, whereas Jawa and Yezdi will have more India focus.
