- The duo consists of a sport tourer dubbed as the SuperTouring and off-road offering called the Baja DR
- The models revealed are still prototypes and the production will commence very soon
American two-wheeler manufacturer Buell Motorcycles has taken the veils off its latest offerings: SuperTouring and the Baja DR. The prior is a thorough road-oriented sport touring bike and the latter is a dirt ready offering.
Both bikes are powered by a 1190cc V-twin motor developed by Rotax. However, the SuperTouring is tuned to dish out 182bhp and 136Nm whereas the Baja DR is set to pump 172bhp, a tad lower to suit its touring purpose.
The SuperTouring may not be the best looking with its odd proportions and boxy panels but Buell seems to have kept practicality as the priority. The hard case panniers should offer adequate storage and tall windscreen should suffice during touring. Not to mention, the SuperTouring isn’t an out and out ADV but more of a sports tourer.
As for the Baja DR, it’s ready to plow dirt at any given moment. Buell is already addressing it as the world’s fastest production dirt bike. It’s a off-road mannerisms are pretty evident, thanks to the long travel suspension and spoked wheels. Moreover, the Baja DR also uses a large swingarm with adjustable wheelbase, for hill climbing purposes.
Buell has started accepting orders for both the motorcycles with the SuperTouring priced at USD 21,995 (approximately Rs 16.78 lakh) and the Baja DR retailing at USD 19,995 (approximately Rs 15.52 lakh). Unfortunately, the company has no plans to enter the Indian market any time soon.
