CF Moto, a Chinese bikemaker, has ventured into the Indian market in association with Bangalore-based AMW Motors. As a part of its initial phase plan, the company has launched the 650MT and the 650GT which are priced at Rs 4.99 lakhs and Rs 5.49 lakhs (ex-showroom), respectively. Online bookings for the motorcycles will commence on 5 August while deliveries are set to start from the first week of October.
While the 650MT is a touring motorcycle, the 650GT is a sports touring model. Both bikes boast of styling and ergonomics based on their respective purpose. Starting with the 650MT, the motorcycle features an upright stance with a tall windscreen, easy-to-reach handlebar, knuckle guards, radiator guard and a single piece seat. On the other hand, the 650GT justifies its sports tourer tag with a fully-faired design, forward-set handlebar, chiseled fuel tank and a split seat. Both bikes sport full-LED lighting and a USB charger. While the 650MT does away with an LCD instrument cluster, the 650GT comes equipped with a five-inch full-colour TFT display along with in-built navigation system.
Coming to the powerplant, the 650MT and the 650GT share a common 649cc, parallel-twin engine which churns out 60bhp of power and 56Nm of torque. This motor comes mated to a six-speed gearbox and final chain drive. Suspension hardware of the 650MT comprises of inverted forks up front while the 650GT sports telescopic units. Meanwhile, at the rear, a monoshock remains common for both bikes. Braking is taken care of by dual discs at the front and a single disc at the rear which are accompanied by calipers sourced from J Juan and assisted by dual-channel ABS setup.
CF Moto will bring the motorcycles via CKD (completely knocked down) route from China and will assemble them at AMW’s Bangalore facility. As for the dealerships, the Chinese bikemaker will initially establish outlets in seven cities across India including Kochi, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Kolkata and Assam. In terms of competition, while the 650MT will compete against the Kawasaki Versys 650, the 650GT will lock horns with the Kawasaki Ninja 650.
