- New 1250cc tourer in the making
- Gets motor from KTM 1290 Super Duke
- Likely to be unveiled at EICMA
It’s clear from the last few developments that CF Moto is on an aggressive spree. It plans to have a range of new motorcycles in the next few years, along with a big burly flagship tourer.
Thanks to these leaked images, we now know that the Chinese maker is working on a 1250cc V-Twin tourer. The patent pictures shows the production ready motorcycle albeit in police form which makes us believe that the bike will first go to Chinese government, followed by the launch for the general public.
According to the pictures, the engine on this tourer is likely to be similar as the one on the KTM 1290 Super Duke. CF Moto manufactures and sells a few KTM motorcycles in China due to their strong partnership. So there’s a high chance the company would borrow a lot of tech from the Austrian company. The basic layout of the motor remains unchanged. But things like cylinder, cases and heads have been changed. While the motor on the 1290 Super Duke make arounds 175bhp, the one on this Chinese bike will make considerably less.
A lot of cycle parts on this bike which has been codenamed CF1250G has been borrowed from the KTMs. The suspension is from WP. In fact, the design of the motorcycle is likely to be done by Kiska Designs – the company responsible for all KTM motorcycles. One interesting aspect of this motorcycle is that is uses chain drive which is not seen on such big bikes. Most of the competitions make use of shaft drive to make long distance riding easy for the riders.
Like it has been doing to its 650cc range, CF Moto is likely to build more motorcycles based on this new 1250cc platform. We won’t be surprised to see a streetfighter or an adventure motorcycle coming from China very soon.
