- Pays homage to Jorge ‘Aspar’ Martinez
- Will be powered by a 675cc, triple-cylinder engine
In September 2023, CFMoto showcased the 675 SR prototype in China. Now, the Chinese manufacturer has unveiled the near-production-ready CFMoto 675 SR-R Aspar special edition for the global markets.
The 675 SR-R Aspar special edition pays homage to Jorge ‘Aspar’ Martinez, former racer and current team manager of the Moto3 CFMoto Aspar Racing Team. This limited-edition supersport bike boasts the company's first-ever three-cylinder engine, with an expected output of over 100bhp. While it is a one-off model, the Aspar edition hints at a potential mass production bike due to its apparent readiness.
Up front, the CFMoto 675 SR-R features unique DRLs, surrounded by sharp bodywork and aerodynamic winglets. The motorcycle features a muscular fuel tank and a sculpted fairing that flows into a sleek tail section that gets aerodynamic spoilers for a dash of pizazz. The 675 SR-R Aspar features billet rear-set pegs, tinted windscreen, brake ducts, clip-on bars, and a custom Aspar livery.
CFMoto showcased the new triple-cylinder engine at EICMA 2023, highlighting its lightweight design. Although its technical specifications remain undisclosed, the motor gets a traditional 120-degree crankshaft layout and chain-driven dual overhead camshafts. The intake system features Bosch fuel injection and individual throttle bodies.
With Triumph and MV Agusta achieving success with their respective 675cc, triples exceeding 120bhp, CFMoto faces a challenge in matching that performance with their 675 SR-R. The lack of direct competition from Triumph and MV Agusta in this segment could present an opportunity for CFMoto in Europe, particularly with KTM's existing sales network.
