- CFMoto to locally source 50 per cent parts by 2021
- Will include essential components
- Deliveries for the motorcycles begin
Chinese manufacturer, CFMoto which has a tie-up with Bangalore-based AMW Motorcycles, has revealed that it is aiming at 50 per cent localization in India in the next 18 months.
While the main components like the drivetrain and frame will be imported into the country, CFMoto is looking at locally sourcing parts like the wiring harness, braking equipment and suspension including some other smaller components. This will help the company price its motorcycles even more aggressively. At present, its most affordable offering is the 300NK at Rs 2.99 lakhs while the top-of-the-line 650GT cost Rs 5.49 lakhs (both prices ex-showroom).
The CFMoto motorcycles are brought to the country via the CKD route and assembled at AMW’s plant in Bangalore. The plant has a monthly production capacity of 1500 units which, the brand reveals, can be increased as required.
On the other hand, the company has begun deliveries of its motorcycles and has also inaugurated its first dealership in Mumbai. The second dealership will be opened at Bangalore on 20 November followed by Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, Assam and Cochin.
