- One-off iteration co-created by 13 Lucky Monkey
- Inspired by 1988 anime film, Akira
CFMoto has taken the wraps off the quirky Anime edition of its mini motorcycle, the Papio SS, in the Philippines. This one-off iteration of the bike has been created by the brand in association with 13 Lucky Monkey, a popular handmade jewellery brand dedicated to biker’s lifestyle.
This funky special edition of the Papio takes inspiration from 1988 Japanese anime film named Akira. The handmade bodywork of the motorcycle is adorned with a brass key, chain, and badges all of which are similar to Kaneda, the film’s protagonist. All the body panels are dipped in red paint and topped with some cool stickers featuring brands and emojis.
While this passion project will perhaps never go into production, the anime aficionados in Philippines can certainly buy the stock Papio, which itself seems to be a fun to ride bike, and customise it to their liking. Powering the bike is a puny 126cc, air-cooled engine that produces 9.4bhp and 9.2Nm of peak torque. The dry weight of the bike stands at 114kg while the fuel tank capacity is 6.8 litres. It rides on 12-inch wheels with telescopic forks and a monoshock along with a disc-drum brake combination.
CFMoto sold a few of its bikes in India for a while before going inoperational sometime last year. Whether the company will make a comeback to our shores is not known yet.
