-First CNG bike by Bajaj
-Bajaj may be targeting the 100-160cc segment
-May be called the Bruzer
The fact that Bajaj is readying a CNG bike has been known for a while, especially after the test bike has been spotted multiple times. While speculation was rife that the bike will be launched this year, Rajiv Bajaj has now made the announcement it will be launched in June.
The Bajaj CNG bike is likely to be called Bruzer and it will be the company’s first bike to be powered by this type of fuel. Looking at the test mules, it seems like Bajaj has found a neat way of incorporating a CNG tank on a motorcycle. It is reminiscent of the adventure bikes with extra large petrol tanks and it will be interesting to see what it will look like at the time of launch. Also, going by the size of the wheels, the disc brake and the rider’s triangle, Bajaj is targeting the commuter segment, possibly in the 100-160cc space.
Other details that are visible on the test bike include a LED headlight and tail light, and possibly a digital instrument cluster, in keeping with the times. In terms of hardware, we can see a telescopic fork and monoshock suspension setup. The bike is likely riding on 17-inch alloy wheels. Braking duties are taken care of by a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear.
The Bajaj CNG bike should appeal to the cost conscious buyer who is looking to commute over long distances without bearing the brunt of high petrol prices. It will also be interesting to see the kind of fuel efficiency that the CNG bike would deliver.
