- Hero MotoCorp extends the closure of its facilities till 16 May 2021
- Production has been under suspension since 22 April
Hero MotoCorp has announced a week’s extension for the closure of its manufacturing facilities across India. Hence, all the operations at its Global Parts Centre (GPC) in Neemrana and its R&D facility, Centre of Innovation and Technology (CIT), will now remain shut till 16 May, 2021.
With the aim to break the chain of the spread of the COVID-19 virus, Hero had initially announced a temporary suspension of its manufacturing facilities from 22 April to 1 May 20201. Notably, this is the second extension after the first one was announced till 9 May 2021. As for the company’s employees working for its corporate offices, they have already been working from home. Hero says it’s continuously monitoring the situation and will resume operations with a higher pace as the situation improves and lockdown eases up.
Hero MotoCorp sold 3,72,285 units of two-wheelers in April 2021, domestic and exports combined. Although this was much lesser than its average monthly sales due to the second wave of the virus, the corresponding month last year was even worst with zero vehicles manufactured and dispatched to the dealers.
