TVS Motor Company and Sundaram-Clayton Ltd have announced spending of Rs 30 crore to support the nationwide efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19. The companies will use the funds to manufacture and supply equipment such as masks and provide cooked meals to support staff (healthcare workers to police officers).
Srinivasan Services Trust (SST), the social arm of TVS Motor Company and Sundaram-Clayton Ltd, has already supplied 10 tractors fitted with disinfectant spray. With the 10 tractors and 30 personnel, SST aims to clean the streets and villages in and around Hosur Municipal Corporation in Tamil Nadu, and municipalities in Krishnagiri and Mysuru with disinfectant. SST will also manufacture and distribute 10 lakh face masks.
Moreover, TVS Motor Company and Sundaram-Clayton Ltd are using canteen kitchens in Hosur, Padi (Chennai) and Mysuru to make cooked food. It is being distributed to police, healthcare workers and essential services workers in and around Hosur, Chennai and Mysuru. The company is distributing daily, dry ration kits to daily wage workers and villagers in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh. The company is also evaluating collaborations with 3D printing companies to make ventilators.
