- To be the first electric motorcycle from the brand.
- Produces 170bhp and 393Nm of torque.
- To be ready for production in 2020.
Curtiss Motorcycles has unveiled their first offering, christened the Zeus at the ongoing California Motorcycle Show.
The radical design language of the Zeus is reminiscent of Confederate’s motorcycles. The bike is marketed as a cruiser and gets a machined aluminum chassis that houses the twin electric motors sourced from Zero Motorcycles. These motors together produce 170bhp and a staggering 393Nm of torque. To put it in perspective, that is 260Nm more than what the Kawasaki Ninja H2 produces.
The electric powertrain is placed conventionally and looks similar to a boxer twin engine. The Zeus also gets a 14.4kWh battery pack, but the company is planning to increase the kWh figure soon. The bike sports LED lighting for the front and rear and an iPad mounted on the top frame between the low-slung handlebars. Suspension setup is sourced by Racetech with double-wishbone forks at the front end while the swingarm uses a concentric pivot point mated to the electric motor’s driveshaft. Meanwhile braking is taken care of by carbon fibre discs held on by Beringer calipers.
Pricing for the Curtiss Zeus is currently unknown but we can expect the motorcycle to be eye-wateringly expensive when it goes into production in 2020. The manufacturer is also planning to produce six different type of battery blocks namely- the Y-block, Porcupine block, I-block, Slant block and V-block. Curtiss Motorcycles is also expected to reveal the Hercules and Starfire electric motorcycles in the coming months.
