Hero MotoSports Team Rally registered their third consecutive top-10 stage finish in the Dakar Rally 2021. This is the first time that Hero MotoSports has achieved this feat at the Dakar Rally. Team’s Sebastian Buhler finished Stage Eight of the rally in 10th place. It was Buhler’s first ever top-10 stage finish in the Dakar Rally.
Meanwhile, Joaquim Rodrigues’ bike hit a rock during the stage and he hurt his shoulder from the impact. Thus, Rodrigues had to slow down considerably to get himself back to the bivouac safely. Yet, he finished the stage in 25th place. Previously, Hero MotoSports Team Rally rider, CS Santosh had to retire from 2021 Dakar Rally after an accident in Stage Four.
Sherco Factory’s Lorenzo Santolino, Harith Noah, and Rui Goncalves took 12th, 29th, and 40th positions, respectively. Monster Energy Honda Team 2021’s Jose Ignacio Cornejo Florimo and Ricky Brabec took the first and the third spots, respectively while Red Bull KTM Factory Team’s Toby Price came second in the stage.
For Stage 9, the rally will stay in Neom. During the stage, the teams will complete a loop of 465km of a special section tomorrow.
