While rumours of Hyosung launching GD250R and GD250N in India have been going around for a while, Mr Shivapada Ray, COO of DSK Motowheels, has officially confirmed that the two quarter-litre models will be introduced here, this year.
While the GD250N was showcased in India last year, at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, the GD250R is a fully-faired version of this streetfighter motorcycle. Most of the bodywork and panels in the GD250R are similar to the GD250N, though it does get an aerodynamic fairing at the front.
Both the GD250R and the GD250N are powered by a 249cc fuel-injected single-cylinder engine. This liquid-cooled engine packs 27.6bhp and 24Nm of torque, and comes with a six-speed transmission. Both the models ride on 37mm inverted forks at the front and an offset monoshock in the rear. Braking is taken care of by a single 300mm disc at the front and a 230mm disc in the rear.
At the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, Hyosung had revealed its intentions of launching the GD250N along with the RT 125D in India, by the end of 2014. However, DSK Motowheels’ collaboration with Benelli seems to have pushed the launch of these new models to this year. As both the GD250N and the GD250R are single-cylinder motorcycles, we can expect them to be significantly cheaper than the GT 250R. While the GD250R will compete with the Honda CBR250R and the KTM RC200, the GD250N will rival the KTM Duke 200.
