DSK Hyosung showcased the street naked bike, the GD250N at the 2014 Auto Expo. Even though their main attraction was the Aquila 250 which was launched at Rs 2.7 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the GD250N gained too much attention of fellow visitorsattracted its fair share of visitors. Now, there reports suggesting that the fully-faired faired version of the GD250N is expected to be launched in the Indian market in July.
The bike is expected to be powered by the same engine that powers the naked version. It gets a 249cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled, fuel- injected engine that is mated to a six-speed gearbox. This engine produces 27.3bhp of maximum power. It is sure to get inverted forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. With 17-inch alloy wheels, the motorcycle comes equipped with 300 mm petal type disc brake in the front and a 230 mm petal disc brake at the rear.
The Indian market is hungry for fully-faired bikes, not because they are anywhere close to being cheap but because it is a style statement and the perception of fully-faired bikes look big adds to its advantage. We expect this bike will be more successful that the GT250R which isn’t quite doing well. However, whenever the bike is launched, it will have to compete with the Honda CBR250R and the upcoming KTM RC390.
