DSK-Hyosung will be launching the Aquila Pro, also called the GV650, on the 16th of January. We had reported before on the company’s plan to launch this motorcycle.
This motorcycle will be available in India through the CKD (completely knocked down) route. The kits will be assembled in the company’s Wai facility in Maharashtra. The GV650 will be the second cruiser motorcycle from DSK-Hyosung after the ST7 and will be priced below the latter.
The GV650 will be powered by a 650cc V-Twin liquid cooled engine that will produce peak power of 72bhp and peak torque of 60Nm.The engine is mated to a five speed manual gearbox and is belt driven. We are expecting the pricing of this motorcycle to be very competitive. Currently, there are three motorcycles in this segment; the Kawasaki Ninja 650, Hyosung GT650R and GT650N. The 650cc segment clearly lacks a cruiser motorcycle. The only cruiser motorcycles in this segment are the Harley Davidson’s 883cc SuperLow which is priced at Rs 5.73 lakh and the ST7, priced at Rs 6.3 lakh.
The company plans to launch the GV250, a 250cc cruiser in the same vein as the GV650, in the coming months. Not only this, come 2014, the company will be getting into the commuter segment with a 150cc motorcycle designed specially for India.
