- Will replace the existing V2 Superquadro engine
- To be offered in two power output options
- Will be showcased at EICMA
Ducati has announced a new V-twin engine for its upcoming range of middleweight bikes. The new V2 engine will replace the existing V2 Superquadro motor that powers the Panigale V2.
The new V2 engine from the Borgo Panigale brand is a newly developed unit and completely different from the existing mill. The new powerplant is designed for a softer state of tune compared to the engine it replaces. It will be offered in two power outputs - 113bhp/92Nm and 118bhp/93.3Nm. The engine has a rev ceiling of 11,350rpm but makes its maximum power at 10,750rpm.
Ducati has ditched the Desmodromic valve timing system in favour of spring-operated valves. The spring-operated valves offer more stability at low revs and better service intervals with the valve clearance check at 30,000km for this engine.
The engine is the lightest v-twin motor from Ducati and tips the scales at 54.5kg. It is 9.4kg lighter than the Superquadro 955 and 5.9kg lighter than the Testastretta Evoluzione engine. Ducati will showcase the new V2 powerplant at EICMA 2024. Although not revealed yet, this motor is likely to power the next-generation Ducati models such as the Multistrada V2, Supersport S, and others.
