Ducati DesertX production to commence soon

- Indian launch likely in late 2022

- Powered by 937cc, L-twin, liquid-cooled engine

- Will rival the likes of Triumph Tiger 900 in India

The new Ducati DesertX adventure tourer will soon enter production at the company’s factory in Bologna. The Indian arm of the Italian two-wheeler maker has already confirmed that this model will be launched in our market. However, the launch timeline is not available yet.

The new Ducati DesertX will compete in the middleweight adventure tourer segment and rival the likes of the Triumph Tiger 900 Rally in the Indian market. The motorcycle draws styling cues from the concept motorcycle that was revealed in 2019. This off-road focussed motorcycle features a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel combination. Other styling elements include a twin-pod headlight at the front, a tall windscreen, a semi-fairing design, a 21-litre fuel tank, split-style seats, side-slung exhaust, bash plate, and tubeless-tyre compatible wire-spoke wheels. The feature list on the international-spec model includes full-LED lighting and a Bluetooth-enabled five-inch TFT display as standard.

The electronics package comprises six riding modes (Sport, Touring, Urban, Wet, Rally, and Enduro), four power modes (Full, High, Medium, and Low), cruise control, Bosch IMU, engine brake control, traction control, wheelie control, bidirectional quickshifter, and cornering ABS.

This middleweight adventure tourer shares its 937cc, L-twin, liquid-cooled engine with the new Monster and Multistrada V2. Linked to a six-speed gearbox, the motor produces 110bhp at 9,250rpm and 92Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm.
