Ducati has hinted at launching its only single-cylinder motorcycle, the Hypermotard 698 Mono, very soon in India. The Italian bikemaker has teased the same on its social media platforms and here is what we expect from the upcoming Ducati bike.
Sleek Design
The Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono takes its design inspiration from the bigger siblings. It dons proper supermoto styling with a tall stance, wide handlebar, a single-piece bench seat, upswept exhausts, a sleek tail, and alloys with sticky tyres.
Loaded with features
Apart from LED illumination, the Hypermotard 698 Mono also gets three power modes, cornering ABS, four ride modes, traction control, wheelie control, launch control, and engine brake control. These should make the bike tamable for someone riding it for the first time.
Compact Engine
As we mentioned earlier, this is the only single-cylinder Ducati bike currently on sale. Powering the Hypermotard 698 Mono is a 659cc, liquid-cooled Superquadro Mono engine. It makes 77.5bhp and 63Nm and gets a six-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch. Further, buyers can also opt for a Termignoni racing exhaust that bumps the output figures to 84.5hp and 67Nm. We are yet to know whether the same will be offered in India.
Premium Hardware
The smallest Ducati bike rides on fully adjustable USD front forks and a monoshock. It comes with 17-inch wheels wrapped in 120/70 front and 160/60 rear Diablo Rosso 4 tyres. The Hypermotard 698 Mono’s braking hardware includes a 330mm front and 245mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS. If needed the rear ABS can be disengaged to perform slides.
Expected Price
We expect the Ducati Hypermotard to be priced between Rs. 9.50 to 10.50 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It won't have any direct rivals in this segment since there aren't supermoto bikes currently on sale in India.
