The Ducati Hyperstrada 939 will be launched in India with a price tag of Rs 12.19 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). Ducati dealers have started accepting bookings for a token amount of Rs 2 lakh, with deliveries beginning in the next few weeks.
The Ducati Hyperstrada 939 is billed to be a hybrid of supermoto and adventure motorcycling genres. The radical styling draws inspiration from both the Hypermotard and the Multistrada, offering the best of both worlds. The Ducati Hyperstrada 939 is based on the same tubular trellis frame as the previous model, though it is now powered by a bored 937cc version of the Testastretta L-twin engine. It delivers 112bhp and 98Nm of torque and is mated to a six-speed transmission.
Up front, the Hyperstrada 939 gets 43mm USD forks while at the rear it gets a fully adjustable Sachs monoshock. Braking hardware has been supplied by Brembo - dual 320mm disc brakes at the front and a single 245mm disc brake at the rear. The 10-spoke alloy wheels get dual sport Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tyres to suit the bike’s character. The electronics package includes three-level ABS, traction control, ride-by-wire throttle and selectable riding modes. Utilitarian bits like the touring screen and seat, panniers, centre stand, engine sump guard, remote rear suspension pre-load adjuster and two auxiliary 12v power outlets boost the Hyperstrada 939’s touring capabilities, though a few of these are optional extras.
The Hyperstrada 939 is available in just one colour – Ducati red. Apart from the Triumph Tiger 800 XRx and the Aprilia Mana 850 GT, the Hyperstrada 939 also rivals bigger litre-class touring motorcycles like the Suzuki V-Strom and the Kawasaki Versys 1000.
