Ducati had planned to launch 12 new motorcycles in India in 2021. However, the company outdid itself and introduced 15 new products, facelifts, and all-new models combined. As for this year, Ducati India aims to introduce 11 new/updated models. Intrigued by the same, we caught up with the man behind this aggressive portfolio expansion - Mr Bipul Chandra, the brand’s managing director.
On the BikeWale Podcast, Bipul talks on a host of topics, from the brand’s philosophy behind launching so many bikes in India to the response received for its recent products. The Spotify link to the episode is attached below.
Ducati India’s 2022 entrants
Besides the facelifted models of the existing bikes, the company is launching a couple of all-new products like the Streetfighter V2 and the Desert X. The company is particularly excited about the latter since it will represent the brand’s entry into the 21-18-inch spoke wheel territory with an all-new frame designed for all-terrain riding. Bipul put an emphasis on the new Panigale V4 which will be technologically and design-wise even more advanced than the existing iteration.
EV plans
When asked about the brand’s EV plans, Bipul didn’t give an elaborate rundown on their advancements in this area. However, he did remind us of Ducati being the sole official supplier of motorcycles for premier class electric bike racing, FIM MotoE World Cup, from 2023 onward. The top honcho said that the company will undoubtedly come up with customer models developed from the experience gained by racing. In this podcast, we also asked him about the response received for the new Monster and the Multistrada V4 in India.
