Italian sports bike maker Ducati, has put up a strong sales performance for 2015 so far. The Bologna-based brand has managed to improve further on the positive trend seen in these last five years, with motorcycle sales increasing.
Ducati says the first half-year saw a 22 per cent increase in volume with respect to the first half of 2014, leading to an all-time record sales of 32,600 bikes worldwide.
In terms of growth in specific regions, USA - Ducati’s leading market, witnessed a 10 per cent rise in sales. The biggest percentage increase, however, was recorded in Italy (+51 per cent), followed by Spain (+38 per cent), the UK (+36 per cent), Germany (+24 per cent) and France (+23 per cent).
The sales growth, undoubtedly, is down to the introduction of models like the Scrambler, with sales of over 9,000 units in the first six months of 2015. The overall sales also included 4,700 units of the Multistrada 1200, 3,700 units of the Monster 821 and over 3,000 units of the Panigale.
While there’s a long way to go for Ducati to replicate its global success here in India, the brand is finally making all the right noises for a sustainable growth locally. Ducati recently began its India operations last month with the launch of two variants of the Scrambler in a press conference held in the Gurgaon showroom, which it claims is one of the largest in the world.
Ducati currently sells nearly its entire global range here in India. Starting with the Scrambler at Rs 6.77 lakh, the range goes on till Rs 37.30 lakh for the Diavel Titanium and includes the brand’s popular Monster range and the exotic Panigale supersport range.
