Benelli has arrived with a packed show at the ongoing EICMA 2015 in Milan and among the brand’s newest range of machines is the TRK 502 touring motorcycle. With a design that draws upon adventure motorcycles for inspiration, the TRK 502 is a direct rival to the popular Honda CB 500X.
The TRK 502 is built around the traditional Benelli steel trellis frame. What’s new though is the 500cc twin-cylinder engine developed for Benelli’s new range of models. This liquid-cooled unit produces 47bhp and 45Nm of torque and is paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The latter gets a hydraulic clutch for better feel.
In terms of design, the TRK 502 oozes ruggedness with its huge 20-litre tank, a tall windscreen, muscular hand guards, LED headlight and an aggressive looking front fender. The long travel upside down front forks are adjustable while the rear is the familiar monoshock affair. Braking is provided via 320mm front discs and two-piston floating calipers. The 260mm rear disc is also gripped by a twin piston caliper.
Benelli has made it official that the TRK 502 will be available in the second half of 2016. While the pricing is yet to be released, we can expect the Italian marquee to position the TRK 502 quite attractively here in India below the existing 600 GT sports tourer.
