Bimota is known for building eccentric motorcycles that are very fast and the Italian manufacturer has just stuck to its forte for the EICMA 2015 in Milan, Italy. First we have the Tesi 3D – a motorcycle with a front swingarm instead of forks – in its café racer avatar and then we have the mind-bending ‘hyper-naked’ street bike – the Impeto.
The Tesi 3D RaceCafe is an extension of the Tesi line of models that is famous for its hub steering, two swingarms and a carbon-fibre tube Trellis frame chassis. The ride height of the Tesi is adjustable by almost 23mm with Bimota claiming precision to the millimetre. The Tesi RaceCafe is powered by a smaller 803cc Ducati L-twin instead of the 1073cc engine found in the naked. Bimota for the first time has traded performance for the comfort of those enthusiasts who prefer motorcycles that are easier to ride and manage.
Bimota calls the Impeto a ‘hyper-naked’ motorcycle. The term ‘hyper’ comes from the dual-spark 1198cc Ducati 90-degree V-twin engine that develops about 160bhp of power. The Impeto engine develops a whopping 150Nm of torque – 20 per cent more than what we get in the Diavel – thanks to the supercharger kit. The motorcycle comes with Ohlins suspension in the front as well as the rear, Brembo brakes, lightweight alloy wheels and Pirelli Power Supersport tyres. The naked street-fighter looks leave us searching for words but we are sure the Impeto will fight for the crown of the most beautiful motorcycle.
Hoping to get to see these pair of wheels anywhere in the sub-continent, officially, would be day dreaming but we do hope some enthusiast imports one of these to the Indian shores!
