US-based motorcycle manufactuer, United Motors, has unveiled a new, updated version of their small-capactiy cruiser motorcycle, christened Renegade Sport S.
While the standard Renegade Sport was a designed to look like a bobber, the Renegade Sports S has taken a completely different approach. It gets a distinctive laid back character of a traditional American cruiser, complete with a long wheelbase, an elongated exhaust, fat profile tyres, sweptback handlebars, and a sharply raked fairing surrounding the headlamp. Unlike the monotonous matte paint scheme of the standard model, the Renegade Sport S gets a splendid looking dual-tone paint job. The chromed emblem on the fender, fuel tank and the side panels contrast beautifully with the matte paint finish. The retro-looking single-pod instrument console gets a small digital display.
UM had previously hinted that its India-bound models would be powered by a new larger capacity engine, than its existing crop of 225cc and 150cc engines. The company has kept their word, as the Renegade Sport S employs a new 279cc single-cylinder engine, which puts out 25bhp and 22Nm of torque. It also gets beefier 41mm USD forks at the front and a dual shock in the rear.
The Renegade Sport S will be showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi, and will be one of the first UM models to be launched in India. Along with its partner Lohia Auto, the company will locally produce these models at the latter's manufacturing facility in Kashipur, Uttarakhand, though it will eventually invest in a standalone unit for its motorcycles. The Renegade Sport S will compete with the Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350, Bajaj Avenger Street and the Mahindra Mojo.
