While Harley-Davidson announced a major overhaul for its line-up back in September, there is no way it could have not kept something aside for the world’s biggest motorcycle show. So earlier today, the American manufacturer unveiled the ninth model in its Softail line-up – the Sport Glide.
The Sport Glide isn’t a new moniker for Harley-Davidson. It was phased out over 25 years ago. Back then, it was a touring motorcycle featuring a massive headlamp cowl. This time, the Sport Glide takes a relatively minimalistic approach, and aims to take care of sports riding, cruising and touring. Helping its cause is the new Milwaukee-Eight 107 engine, churning out 146Nm of torque. This air and oil-cooled engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox, with power being transmitted via a final belt drive. It rides on 18-inch front and 16-inch rear cast aluminium wheels.
The features list includes ABS, LED headlamp, USB charging port, keyless ignition and security system. Quick release panniers are optional extras. It is available in three paint schemes - black, cherry and silver. Prices start at USD 18,599 (Rs 12.12 lakhs). Harley-Davidson launched the 2018 Softail range in India a few weeks ago, and we do not expect this model to be added to the line-up anytime soon.
