Electric Kawasaki Ninja and Z bikes to debut soon!

- Kawasaki Ninja e-1 and Z-1 will first head to the UK

- Both bikes will be powered by a 5kW motor

- Will also feature a twin removable battery setup

In the past few months, Kawasaki has teased its upcoming electric motorcycles, the Ninja e-1 and Z e-1 multiple times. Now, the Japanese brand is finally set to officially introduce them with the UK being the first market.

The design aspect of the electric Kawasaki siblings was revealed a while ago. The Ninja e-1 takes inspiration from its petrol-powered sibling and so does the Z e-1. The former gets a split LED headlight with a transparent visor and high-set clip-on handles. The Ninja e-1 gets a split seat and appears more like a sports-tourer than an outright supersports motorcycle. Meanwhile, the Z e-1 shares the same base but sports fewer panels owing to its naked styling. Then, there’s the single-piece headlight and wide handlebar for an upright rider triangle.

Kawasaki will power both EVs with a 5kW motor linked to a pair of removable batteries. But the range and battery specifications are yet to be revealed. But Kawasaki says that the top speed for the Ninja e-1 and Z e-1 will be 99kmph. There will also be two ride modes: Road and Eco. For added convenience, the bikes will get an e-boost feature that gives the bike temporary access to even more power. Other features like full LED illumination, walk and reverse mode, and a fully digital TFT with smartphone connectivity will also be offered.

The debut of both the Kawasaki Ninja e-1 and the Z e-1 is slated for next month in the United Kingdom. Once launched, all the remaining details like the range, full list of features, price and more will be revealed. That said, the Japanese brand hasn’t expressed any interest in entering the Indian electric two-wheeler market yet.
