- Energica Motor Company likely to enter India by the end of 2020
- Currently has presence in the US and European markets
- Will come with a hefty price tag
The Italian electric bike maker, Energica Motor Company, has taken the electric two-wheeler market by storm with the launch of its high-performance electric motorcycles. While the company has presence in the US and European markets as of now, a new report suggests that Energica is contemplating on entering Asian markets as well, including India.
The revelation was made by a top honcho of the brand while speaking to one of the online media publications. The spokesperson stated that after concentrating on the US and European markets, the electric bike maker intends to make its debut in India and China. Although a definitive timeline hasn’t been finalised yet, but the India entry could happen by the end of 2020 or early 2021.
Enegica’s portfolio consists of three electric motorcycles including Eva Ribelle, Eva EsseEsse9 and the Ego. These bikes are capable of delivering performance which is on par with a petrol-powered middle-weight supersport. To give you a perspective, the higher-spec Ego+ model produces a peak power output of 107kW and can attain a top speed of 240kmph! Furthermore, it has a range of around 400km on a single charge.
As enticing a package as these bikes are, their price tags are equally mind-boggling. For instance, the pricing of the Ego model in the US is $22,565, which is around Rs 16 lakhs. Also, it is unlikely that the brand will manufacture its electric bikes in India which indicates that these offerings will continue to be expensive when they come to India.
