Ather Energy is gearing up to expand its product portfolio in India. The company will soon launch the 450S – an affordable version of the 450X.
According to our sources, the 450S will have lesser features. This route will help the Bengaluru-based brand in pricing this scooter lower than the 450X and take advantage of the FAME incentives. Plus, having an affordable variant will also help the brand with more sales and grab a bigger market share because the brand has already opened many showrooms nationwide.
Currently, Ather Energy sells 450X in two variants – standard and Pro pack. The Pro pack variant is the most expensive one, with features like auto hold, parking assist, all riding modes, a five-year battery warranty, fast charging, and a smartphone app. However, this variant is almost Rs 30,000 more expensive than the standard variant, which is priced at Rs 1.19 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
Recently, many EV brands were ordered to refund the amount they had billed customers for portable chargers. These brands had sold these chargers as a separate bundle to get the ex-showroom price below Rs. 1.5 lakh – and get the full benefit of the FAME subsidies.
That said, we expect this upcoming Ather 450S to be priced between Rs. 1.45 lakh and Rs. 1.5 lakh. It will likely be launched around the festive season to help the brand achieve more sales volumes.
