- New Hero Xtreme 440R under development
- Launch in late 2024
- Will take on Royal Enfield, KTM
Hero MotoCorp is going quite aggressively with its premium bike plans. The company is working on a new 440cc motorcycle planned for a 2024 launch.
This new motorcycle will likely be called the Xtreme 440R and powered by the same engine seen on the soon-to-be-launched Harley Davidson X440. This new motorcycle will help the company take on brands like KTM, Royal Enfield and Husqvarna.
According to one of our sources, who was part of a customer clinic, the Xtreme 440R that was shown had aggressive styling and was equipped with some premium cycle parts. This clinic also had the Harley-Davidson X440, and the company was curious to get consumers’ design feedback. Both the bikes didn’t carry any of the brand or product names so that they could gauge the initial reaction.
Currently, Hero MotoCorp has been working on three big platforms – a 210cc liquid-cooled motor that will first debut on the Karizma XMR 210, a 440cc air-cooled engine that will power the Harley-Davidson X440, and the third one is a 420cc liquid-cooled engine which will see an entirely new line-up of Hero bikes. However, the 420cc bikes have been delayed quite a bit.
Hero MotoCorp wants to focus on premium bikes as the growth in that segment has been consistently increasing, and with its strong foothold in the 100cc-110cc segments, it now wants to go aggressive in 200cc plus segments.
