- Design patent registered in India
- Likely to be launched this year
- Powered by a 999cc, inline-four-cylinder motor
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has registered a design patent for its CB1000 Hornet in India. We have come across its document and here is what we know about the litre-class Japanese streetfighter.
The Honda CB1000 Hornet is a successor to the previously sold CB1000R Neo Sports Cafe. It boasts an aggressive design with sharp cuts and creases all over. However, one can’t overlook that it appears similar to the current Ducati Streetfighter in terms of the fascia. But that’s a good thing, and the CB1000 Hornet looks appealing, nonetheless.
It is powered by a 999ccc inline-four-cylinder motor that makes 147bhp and 100Nm. The engine is linked to a six-speed gearbox and comes nestled in a trellis frame. This setup is suspended on Showa forks at the front and a Pro-Link shock. Both units feature pre-load and rebound adjustability. Then, the brakes comprise dual front and a rear single disc mounted on 17-inch wheels.
The said firepower is supported by a list of electronic aids including a throttle-by-wire system, a five-inch TFT display and three ride modes. Honda unveiled the bike last year in the international market and now with its patent registration for the Indian market, it seems that the Japanese bikemaker is looking to dabble in the 1000cc market again. As of now, the Honda BigWing website has no 1000cc bikes listed.
