-Patent image leaked revealing design cues
- Likely to retain the bodywork from the petrol counterpart
- Could pack a centrally mounted battery
TVS seems to be expanding its EV portfolio further as we’ve just come across the patent image of the upcoming electric XL moped. As of now, the brand only has the iQube range on sale in India and is likely to bring the Creon e-scooter, too, in August. But with the new development of the XL e-moped, it’s probable that the Hosur-based brand could have even more models lined up.
As seen in the above image, the TVS XL e-moped will likely retain its petrol counterpart's simple build. The frame, round headlight, split seat, tubular grab-rail, and structure look quite similar to those of the current XL 100 on sale. TVS could equip the XL EV with a centrally mounted battery pack followed by a belt setup. The hardware, too, remains the same as the drawing shows telescopic front forks and dual rear springs. Its braking hardware consists of a front and rear drum brake mounted on spoke wheels.
For reference, TVS currently offers the XL100 in five different trims and it is powered by a 99.7cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor that makes 4.3bhp and 6.5Nm. It weighs 86kg and gets a 130kg payload capacity. We think the XL electric moped could have the same capacity.
The upcoming TVS electric moped is under development and could take a while before it’s officially announced. It’ll compete against the electric Luna, which is also being developed currently. Take a look at its first leaked image.
