EXCLUSIVE: Yamaha India working on maxi-scooter to rival Suzuki Burgman Street

- Yamaha working on maxi-scooter

- Will rival Burgman Street

- Launch early next year

Yamaha India has decided to join the maxi-scooter bandwagon in the country. The company is developing a Burgman Street rival as it believes that there’s a big market for such scooters in the country.

According to our sources, the Japanese firm has been closely watching this segment and decided to take the plunge as the Burgman Street managed to successfully cater to a new set of buyers. Yamaha believes that this segment is bound to grow due to rising aspirations, different scooter experience and more importantly, practicality.

We are expecting the company to use their 125cc Ray ZR and Fascino platform to build this new scooter. Once ready, it is likely to be the most expensive scooter in its India line-up. The launch timeline is being planned for early next year.
