The Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) has presented the provisional MotoGP calendar for 2017 season.
Under this new schedule, the date of the Sachsenring round has been moved forward two weeks to July 2. While this gives riders a month’s summer break between the Sachsenring and Brno, the downside is the back-to-back race at the TT Circuit Assen. This means that the calendar will now feature three lots of back-to-back race weekends. The British and Malaysian rounds are still subject to contract approval.
The Qatar Grand Prix will kick off the championship on March 26 and will continue as the only evening race in the calendar. The 11-race European series will commence at the Jerez circuit on May 7. This will be followed by the triple sequence of Japan, Australia and Malaysia followed by the finale at Valencia.
