Ignyte, one of the helmet brands of Steelbird, has launched what it claims to be the first made-in-India helmet to have received ECE 22.06 homologation. Christened the IGN-7 ECE 22.06, this helmet also conforms to DOT FMVSS No. 218 and BIS safety standards which, again, makes it the only India-made helmet with triple homologation.
For the uninitiated, ECE stands for Economic Commission for Europe which, as the name suggests, is the safety standard applicable in Europe. Moreover, DOT certification belongs to the US while BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) is the safety standard implemented in India. The fact that the IGN-7 complies with all these standards ensures that it has gone through rigorous safety tests. The helmet is available in three sizes – M, L, and XL and it can be had either in monocolour or with decals. Prices of the IGN-7 start from Rs 6,199.
This Ignyte helmet incorporates the NACA air-flow system which is claimed to allow efficient channeling of the air through the interiors. Moreover, the shell is made up of 9-part EPS with protection in as many as 18 impact points. Upping the quality quotient is an ECE-certified visor factory fitted with Pinlock 70 anti-fog lens. The company also claims that the helmet comes fitted with super soft fabric interiors for long-lasting comfort. Other features of the iGN-7 include a double D-ring fastener, high-frequency thermo foam wind deflector, nose protector, and a sliding sun shield for added convenience.
