A suspicious photo of a new Benelli streetfighter has been leaked on the internet. Codenamed BJ750GS, this middleweight streetfighter is rumoured to be a part of the Italian marque’s next-gen range of motorcycles.
By the looks of it, the BJ750GS seems to be based on a brand new platform, though the engine has retained the architecture from its bigger three-cylinder sibling (the one used in TNT 899 and TNT R). It will displace around 750cc and will be mated to a six-speed transmission. While the current TNT range gets sophisticated cycle parts from Marzocchi, Sachs and Brembo, this new model seems to use more cost effective components. The fancy underseat exhaust has been ditched in favour of a conventional canister. Even the side mounted radiator fans have been replaced with a conventional centre mounted radiator. Unlike the current Benelli range, we can safely expect this bike to get ABS.
Benelli has been performing exceptionally well in the Indian market and is one of the fastest growing premium motorcycle brands in the country. However, most of the volumes are generated by the 600cc bikes, with the bigger (and older) TNT 899 and TNT R failing to attract the masses. All of this, however, should change with the introduction of the new 750cc motorcycle. It will go up against the likes of Triumph Street Triple and the Kawasaki Z800.
