Making its foray into the Indian market, UK-based firm Go Zero Mobility has tied up with Kirti Solar a Kolkata-based company to manufacture and sell electric bikes in the country. The company has launched two electric bikes, Mile and One. While the Mile has been priced at Rs 29,999, the higher-spec One has been priced at Rs 32,999.
Both e-bikes feature a similar design, the Mile being more affordable out of the two features a 300 Wh battery coupled to a hub-mounted 250Kw electric motor. On a full charge, the setup is capable of returning a range of 45km. The One, on the other hand, features a 400Wh battery connected to the same motor but returning a total range of 60km. The batteries are detachable and can be charged through a regular power socket. It takes about 2.5 hours for a full charge.
The e-bikes come equipped with cruise control, telescopic fork up front and disc brakes at both ends. While the Mile is more-suited for city use, the One features fatter tyres and a tweaked front suspension for better damping on rough terrain. Notably, the Mile features a basic LED screen as compared to the One which receives an LCD display to display the speed, battery charge and distance travelled.
The company is also offering one-year theft and accidental insurance at Rs 749 and a couple of accessories which include a carrier (Rs 1299), mobile holder (Rs 299), centre stand (Rs 1099) and mudguard (Rs 599).
The company will be primarily aiming at metro cities and later expand its reach to smaller cities. In the next three years, the company plans to open 80 dealerships along with 18 experience centre in the country. GoZero will be locally manufacturing the Mile and One through its tie-up partner Kirti Solar. Besides that, the company also plans to introduce three more products this year. With this strategy, the company plans to sell 75,000 units annually in the next five year with up to 1000 touch points across the country.
