The 28th edition of the Gulf Monsoon Scooter Rally will run along the backwoods of Navi Mumbai on 1 and 2 July. The event sponsored by Gulf Oil Lubricants India Limited and organised by Sportscraft will accept a maximum of 50 entries this year. Currently, 25 riders have confirmed their participation for the rally.
The rally is open for all Indian-made scooters – two-stroke, four-stroke and gearless. The different classes for competition are: 1. Two-stroke - 80cc to 110cc, 2. Two stroke - 110cc upto 160cc, 3. Four stroke up to 130cc, and 4. Four stroke - 130cc – upto 160cc. Special incentives will be offered to riders from Mumbai, Thane, Pune, Nashik, Aurangabad, Bhopal, Kolhapur, Jodhpur and Dehradun. Standard entries will be accepted till 5pm on 22 June, while late entries will close at 1pm on 27 June.
Although the main event is on 2 July, scrutiny and briefing for riders will be held on 1st July at Our Lady’s Home in Parel, Mumbai and will be followed by a ceremonial start. The organiser has also announced a photography contest for the media. As for participants, the winners will be awarded as follows:
Overall
1st place: trophy and cash award of ₹ 22,500
2nd place: trophy and cash award of ₹ 18,000
3rd place: trophy and cash award of ₹ 13,000
4th place: trophy and cash award of ₹ 8000
5th place: trophy and cash award of ₹ 5000
Prizes in each class
1st place: trophy and cash award of ₹ 5000
2nd place: trophy and cash award of ₹ 4000
3rd place: trophy and cash award of ₹ 3000
The above is only applicable in case there are six starters in each class
Ladies Class – Overall
1st place: trophy and cash award of ₹ 5000
2nd place: trophy and cash award of ₹ 4000
3rd place: trophy and cash award of ₹ 3000
In case there are three or less than three, only one prize will be awarded, apart from the special ladies class prizes.
The ladies are eligible for overall and class prizes too.
