- Latest offering in the brand’s Sportster lineup
- The Nightster is powered by the new liquid-cooled Revolution Max 975T motor
- Will go on sale in India very soon
Harley-Davidson has finally taken the wraps off its latest offering, the Nightster. It’s the latest model to enter the brand’s Sportster line and a replacement for the Iron 883. Here’s what it offers.
By the looks of it, the Nightster seems to be a tad more relaxed than the Sportster S but equally butch, if not more. It gets a round LED headlight with a black cowl over it that has a small vent for the air to be channeled towards the rider. In a thorough roadster fashion, you get a wide handlebar with bar-end mirrors.
The Nightster gets a raked front end with the handlebar placed towards the rider and forward-set footpegs. This means you’d be properly laid back while riding the Nightster. Moreover, it gets a traditional, low side-mounted exhaust, unlike the one we see on the Sportster.
One of the major highlights of the Harley Davidson Nightster is its motor. It’s a 60° liquid-cooled V-twin Revolution Max 975T motor tuned to dish out 89bhp and 95Nm. The new motor gets VVT only on the inlet cam (Sportster S gets on both inlet and exhaust valves).
The Nightster is also loaded with some notable electronic nannies. The suite includes three riding modes – Road, Sport and Rain, along with traction control, ABS and torque control system. Moreover, the designers at Harley-Davidson have also retained the iconic walnut fuel tank which can hold 11.7 litres of petrol.
The Nightster uses the motor as the central structural component with the frame built around it. The suspension hardware comprises 41mm Showa USD forks and a rear monoshock with preload adjustment. For the braking hardware, you get a single front and rear disc with ABS. The Nightster rides on cast aluminum alloys.
Harley-Davidson offers the Nightster in three colours: Vivid Black, Gunship Gray and Redline Red. The pricing will be revealed very soon and the bike will be on sale in India shortly. In the USA, the Nightster retails at USD 13,499 (approximately Rs 10.28 lakh) onwards.
