Harley-Davidson has expanded its Sportster range with the addition of a new model. Christened as the Nightster, this new motorcycle from Harley-Davidson is expected to reach the Indian market later this year. While we await the Indian launch details of this new Harley-Davidson, check out the detailed images of this motorcycle.
The 2022 Harley-Davidson Nightster combines the Sportster model design with the new Revolution Max 975T engine.
The styling cues include a round headlight, flyscreen at the front, round shape for the turn indicators, chopped front and rear fenders, larger front wheel, side-slung exhaust, rider-only saddle, and exposed rear shock absorbers.
One of the unique elements of the motorcycle is its fuel tank. The 3.1-gallon or 14-litre fuel tank is made of lightweight plastic and is located below the seat. Meanwhile, what appears to be a traditional fuel tank in front of the seat is a steel cover for the airbox. The fuel filler is accessible by lifting the hinged locking seat.
This new position for the fuel tank is claimed to optimise the capacity of the engine intake airbox and move the weight of fuel lower in the chassis compared to a traditional fuel tank location. This, Harley-Davidson says, results in a lower centre of gravity for improved handling and easier lift off the side stand.
The minimal body panels ensure that the Revolution Max engine is clearly visible. It features textured Metallic Charcoal powder coat with Gloss Black inserts.
The paint options for the new Harley-Davidson Nightster include Vivid Black, Gunship Grey, and Redline Red. While the Gunship Grey and Redline Red colour options are applied only to the airbox cover; the front and rear fenders and speed screen are always finished in Vivid Black.
The motorcycle is powered by a 975cc, liquid-cooled, 60-degree V-Twin engine that develops 90bhp of power at 7,500rpm and 95Nm of peak torque at 5,000rpm. Harley-Davidson claims that the hydraulic valve lash adjustment delivers quiet operation and reduces the need for costly, complicated service procedures.
It also packs a host of electronic rider aids and features. These include ABS, traction control system, darg-torque slip control system, and three ride modes (Road, Sport, and Rain). Other features on the Nightster include a four-inch analogue speedometer with an inset multi-function LCD display and all-LED lighting.
The hardware on the motorcycle comprises Showa front forks, twin rear shocks, and single discs on both wheels.
