- Affects 1,99,419 motorcycles
- Affected models to get software updates and pressure switch
- Brake light issue might cause rear-end collision
Harley-Davidson has issued a recall for 1,99,419 motorcycles over a potential brake light issue. These include 31,572 units of 2019-2022 Harley-Davidson Trike and CVO Trike and 1,67,847 units of 2020-2022 Harley-Davidson Touring and CVO Touring. According to the recall notice, the affected motorcycles may have a software issue that controls the rear brake lights.
The American manufacturer said that the rear stop lights may stay lit even if the brakes are not engaged. This could increase the risk of a rear-end collision. Under the recall, Harley-Davidson dealers would replace the pressure switch and update the software on the affected models.
Further, the company added that the motorcycles produced after 24 June, 2022 are equipped with a new pressure switch and a software calibration update that addresses this potential concern. The affected motorcycles will receive a software update and a new pressure switch free of cost. There has been no recall notification for the Indian market.
