- The duo aims to set up interoperable fast-charging stations
- To be suitable for Hero Vida and Ather users
Hero MotoCorp and Ather Energy have entered a partnership to expand the fast-charging infrastructure of India. Both brands will be concertedly setting up interoperable fast-charging stations in various regions of the country. These charging stations will allow Hero’s Vida electric scooter owners and Ather users to charge their vehicles hassle-free.
The EV charging ecosystem of India is all set to grow briskly after the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) recently approved the Light Electric Combined Charging System (LECCS). This is India’s first indigenously developed AC and DC combined charging connector standard for light electric vehicles which Hero and Ather aim to leverage to serve their customers.
Hero and Ather electric two-wheeler customers will now be able to locate the nearest charging stations which are compatible with their respective vehicles. Through ‘My Vida’ and Ather smartphone applications, EV users will also be able to check the availability of the charging station and navigate their way to the point. Hero and Ather plan to set up 1900 fast-charging points covering 100 Indian cities through this combined network.
Notably, such initiatives will contribute to accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles in India and make EV ownership more practical and seamless.
