- Will start the deployments of these vehicles in next three months
- Aim to address range and charging infrastructure anxiety
- Also works on a Pay-Per-Use model
Hero Electric has joined hands with SUN Mobility to deploy electric two-wheelers integrated with the latter’s swappable battery technology. As part of the partnership, Hero Electric and SUN Mobility will start the deployments of these vehicles in the next three months. The two companies target to deploy 10,000 electric two-wheelers by the end of this financial year (2022-23).
SUN Mobility’s battery technology and the interoperability of battery swapping infrastructure will allow Hero Electric’s customers to operate electric two-wheelers without range and charging infrastructure anxiety. The partnership will also address the issue of extensive charging times as the batteries can be swapped in a matter of minutes. The network of Quick Interchange Stations (SWAP POINTS) allows for a ‘refuelling’ infrastructure that is faster, cheaper, and convenient. This solution also works on a Pay-Per-Use model.
Speaking about the development, Sohinder Gill, CEO, Hero Electric, said that battery swapping is emerging as a good catalyst for the exponential growth of the electric two-wheelers in India. Gill further added that the company has now developed electric two-wheelers that will integrate with Sun Mobility’s swapping stations so as to give years of trouble-free performance of the composite solution.
Apart from the partnership, Hero Electric also stated in its press announcement that it is now expanding its existing R&D facilities to manufacture the next generation of low speed, city speed, and high speed vehicles. Furthermore, the company is working to enable a robust EV infrastructure in India by expansive investment in technological inventions.
