- Hero Electric setting up 10,000 smart-charging points
- Partnered with Delhi-based Massive Mobility
Hero Electric has partnered with Delhi-based startup, Massive Mobility, to set up as many as 10,000 electric vehicle charging stations across India. This will be a connected network of smart charging stations suitable for three-wheelers and two-wheelers.
Massive Mobility specialises in providing smart EV charging solutions through its cloud-based eco-system. The charging points to be set up in association with Hero Electric will be focused on creating a fully integrated charging experience comprising hardware and software aligned with OEMs. Both the companies conducted a survey to understand the requirements and preferences of EV owners. This revealed that the users sought smart chargers which can be located on the internet, 16 AMP charging stations and long connecting wires. A UPI-based payment facility will also be a part of this setup.
With the entire country gradually shifting towards electric mobility, this would be a great move by Hero Electric and Massive Mobility in terms of encouraging people to adapt EVs and providing ease of living with them. At present, two main challenges existing for electric two-wheeler buyers is the high prices of EVs and the lack of charging infrastructure. While the former is being taken care of through incentives and subsidies by the government, the latter will be tackled by such initiatives by manufacturers.
