Hero MotoCorp will launch its first motorcycle with its own technology by financial year 2014 preparing for its solo journey after parting from its 26-year JV with Japanese manufacturer Honda. The company has already dropped the ‘Honda’ tag from some of its products and is now focusing on their own newly engineered products. As the JV has been terminated, Hero MotoCorp can now export to markets like Latin America, West Asia and Africa which have shown a preference for products engineered for Indian conditions, like the Pulsar range from Bajaj Auto.
In last couple of months, Hero MotoCorp has collaborated with various technology partners like US-based Erik Buell Racing (EBR), Austrian engine developer AVL and Italian two wheeler design firm Engines Engineering. With EBR, the company will focus more on premium motorcycles while with AVL and Engines Engineering the focus will be more on executive segments.
