- Convertible concept unveiled by Hero MotoCorp
- Two-wheeler can be converted to a three-wheeler
- New vehicle category created by the government
Hero MotoCorp has unveiled a new two-wheeler concept that can be converted to a three-wheeled vehicle. This concept is called the Surge S32 and was unveiled at the Hero World 2024.
The Surge S32 concept was developed to offer a vehicle that can be used for personal mobility as well as for commercial activities. The company believes that there’s a market for such vehicles in India where a small-time business owner could use them for such purposes.
The Surge S32 can be converted from a three-wheeled vehicle to a scooter and vice versa in just three minutes. To use it as a three-wheeled vehicle, the owner needs to plug in the electronic connector. Through this, the rider will be able to access the three-wheeled vehicle’s controls through the handlebar of the scooter. Both models have their own motors and battery pack, but they can be controlled using one set of controls.
As of now, this is just a concept, and if it makes sense in the future to bring it into production, Hero MotoCorp will do it. The brand has already worked with the government to create a new vehicle category, L2-5. This effort clearly shows that the company wants to bring the Surge into the market. In terms of pricing, it is too early to comment as this is something new for the Indian market. But knowing Hero MotoCorp, the Surge S32 could be priced aggressively so that it reaches the masses.
