- First electric bike from Hero, Zero by 2026
- Mid-displacement performance bike
- Will be priced high
It has been over a year since Hero MotoCorp and Zero Motorcycle joined hands to develop electric bikes. But finally, there’s some new development for the Indian market.
According to an analyst call, both companies are working on developing a new electric motorcycle platform for the Indian market. This platform primarily focuses on developing a performance electric motorcycle in the middleweight segment. However, the company didn’t reveal more details.
This new performance motorcycle is in the advanced stage of development and is likely to make its official debut in the next two to three years. There’s still no information on whether this motorcycle will be launched under the Vida brand or the Zero. But it is clear that the company wants to make its presence felt in the premium electric bike segment which currently has the Ultraviolette F77. Interestingly, the F77 hasn’t been able to find many takers, and as a result, the company is in the process of launching in a few international markets.
Over the last few years, Hero MotoCorp has focused quite a bit on premium motorcycles. It also launched a new showroom chain to sell these bikes. With Vida too, the company has focused on giving out a good sales experience. So it will be interesting to see how Hero creates a space in the performance electric bike segment considering the fact that it hasn’t really proven itself in the performance petrol bike space.
