Hero Motocorp’s EV partner Zero developing a mini electric bike

- New mini e-bike under development

- Likely to get removable batteries

- India launch unlikely

Hero Motocorp’s electric vehicle partner Zero Motorcycles is working on a new electric motorcycle. This new bike looks like a mini bike being developed for the urban market.

According to the leaked patent pictures, the overall proportions of the bike resemble the Honda Grom – a mini motorcycle known for its size and urban positioning. It looks like the American EV company has decided to explore the world of affordable EVs.

From the patents, it is somewhat clear that the company plans to incorporate removable batteries. Currently, all Zero e-bikes come with fixed batteries, but it is looking to change that with this new mini bike. For urban motorcycles, it makes sense to use removable batteries as the rider will be able to charge it in multiple places, in case the riding range goes down.

As of now, there aren’t details on the specs and the features of this bike. But expect a lot more details to be revealed as it gets closer to the launch. This EV is unlikely to come to India due to its size. India did get the Honda Navi, but it didn’t excite the market and was finally discontinued.
