Hero MotoCorp’s Gurgaon factory workers are demanding a three-to-four time increase in their wages. They claim that their wages are increased only once in three years and that is why they are not ready to settle for any less.
The company on the other hand is not willing to consider this demand, as with this consideration, workers in the other two plants in Dharuhera and Haridwar may follow the same demand.
Hero MotoCorp is not be the only auto company which is facing this problem. A few months ago, Maruti Suzuki had gone through a wage hike issue which is now being settled by the company by increasing their salary by 80 per cent. More recently, some Hyundai Motor India Limited factory workers also went on strike to renegotiate salaries, among other demands.
We aren't sure how the issue will pan out, but we hope that a strike doesn't happen, as ultimately both the company and the workers suffer if this comes to pass.
